St James Church

Harvest at Heyshott is on Sunday 4 October. Our traditional Harvest choral evensong is at 6 pm and will be followed by our equally traditional Harvest Supper in the Cobden Hall at 7 pm. As always, all are welcome to one or both and there is no need to pre-book (tho’ please do bring some cash for a donation towards the supper). We would very much welcome some new singers to refresh the choir for the evensong – please do email me back if you are willing to sing – no experience is needed, we have a run through at 5 pm before the service and it’s fun.

If you are able to provide either a main course of a pudding for the supper, please would you email Dinah on dinah.lamming@btinternet.com. And please do bring Harvest produce for donation to the evensong service or drop it off at Heyshott Farmhouse beforehand. Perishables will be taken to Stonepillow, non-perishables to the Foodbank, and both are always most gratefully received.

Meanwhile, our September Sunday services at St James follow the usual pattern, with a variety of visiting ministers supporting us whilst the process for appointing a new minister to the benefice moves forward, viz:

– service of Holy Communion led by Emma D’Aeth at 11.15 am on Sunday 6 September
– service of Holy Communion led by Stephen Hoy at 11.15 am on Sunday 13 September
– service of Holy Communion led by David Nason at 11.15 am on Sunday 20 September
– service of Matins at 10 am on Sunday 27 September

As usual, evensong or compline will be said in church at 6 pm each Sunday in September.

On Saturday 12 September there will be a memorial service for or Sue Machado at 2.30 pm. Our thoughts will be with her daughter Cassie and her relations and friends at that time.
