Our annual village cream teas, in aid of St James church, take place from 3pm this Sunday 7 June. There will be a longer and a shorter orchid walk, each timed to arrive back for jam and cream – no need to reserve places, please just come to the Cobden Hall and support this important fundraiser for our village church.

The event is being set up from 10 am this Saturday 6 June. If you are able to help for up to an hour putting up the tent and tables please do come along to the Hall at 10 am. It would be very helpful if you could reply to this email saying that you can assist with the set up as we can then be sure that we have enough hands.

We would also be most grateful if you were able to:
– bake a cake or some scones for the cream teas : please email Tanya on tanyacward@yahoo.co.uk if you can do this and bring it/them along to the Cobden Hall or to Heyshott Farmhouse around 2 pm on Sunday
– donate any items for the garden and plant sale which Jane will be overseeing : again, these can be brought to the Cobden Hall around 2 pm on Sunday or left beforehand at Heyshott Farmhouse

The morning church service this Sunday 7 June is a benefice service at Cocking church at 9.30 am. This service is being taken by Tom Carpenter, the new Archdeacon for Chichester. It is unusual for an archdeacon to be able to find a gap in his diary to take a service at a village church, and Tom will be a crucial contact for us as we move forward to find a new minister for our benefice – please do come to this service if you possible can and let Tom know how important we think it is that we have a new minister in place as soon as possible.

There will therefore be no morning service at St James church on Sunday 7 June. The morning services at Heyshott on the other Sundays in June follow the new pattern, viz:
– service of Holy Communion led by Chris Boxley at 11.15 am on Sunday 14 June
– service of Holy Communion led by Reverend Chris Lavender at 11.15 am on Sunday 21 June
– service of sung Matins at 10 am on Sunday 28 June

Evensong or compline will be said as usual at 6pm in church each Sunday in June.
